  6. Would love to see a blog series going over a single PvE missions (especially for new pilots). To be more effective at succeeding in the missions. Stuff like strategies to meet the objectives, important locations, situations to avoid. I know its not always about just killing every enemy in sight, but often I just feel lost in the missions - esp 1st time in.

  7. Hi ScottL,

Any specific PvE mission you were think about? I should be able to answer questions about most PvE missions.

  8. I guess there's no substitute for just getting in there and playing them and trying different things. Sometimes walkthroughs can help avoid newb mistakes that hurt the rest of the team.

Like that PvE mission with the punisher as the last stage. Sometimes everyone just wails on it and it's gone quickly, other times it takes much longer with people hiding between the structures and it becomes a longer cat and mouse type affair.

  9. I know the mission you're talking about.

It has a lot to do with the firepower and the ship configuration your allies use. Too many don't take the time to change from the PvP confit and set for PvE. This means they have active modules loaded that work against another player, but not against an NCP. Target painter would be an example.

The best thing for PvE is to have a squad, and make sure everyone configures their ship for survival, not domination.

To clarify that a little bit, survival is surviving through the PvE, taking out facilities and enemies in the process.

Domination is all maneuvering and outgoing be live player in a PvP.

And survival your Active module should be geared toward shield and hull in his swing and reinforcement. If you have modules available that will do that and aid your allies, that's the best way to go. It helps to reinforce them they can help to reinforce you.

In domination, directive nodules should be geared toward depleting the enemy shields and whole. The goal is to defeat multiple times.

Yes, technically you're in a survival mode. But against another player, you want to disable them so that you can defeat them.

I hope that helps you understand why in some cases PvE goes quickly and in other cases it drags on. If not, say so and I will try and clarify.

  10. Hey thanks - that's great info that also explains a bit why(in addition to my lack of skill) in PVP I get hammered on, sometimes killed just after spawn. I gear all my ships usually more as you describe for PvE. With multipurpose shield bosts and hull repair. But I can see hope the specialty modules can work against players (me) pretty effectively in PvP to disable things quickly for a kill. Thanks for all the info. (PS: Never being a twitch player at any game I really don't enjoy PvP but I just play it for the double points when available)
